How to Stop Armpit Sweat Naturally

How to Stop Armpit Sweat Naturally

Are you always insecure about your underarm sweat stains and visible patches around your shirt sleeves?

These visible armpit stains can definitely make you feel less confident or even more anxious when you meet people. But rest assured, you’re not the only one facing this issue.

Why do my armpits sweat?

Firstly, you have to understand
why your armpit sweat.

Your body has eccrine and apocrine sweat glands – the latter is mostly what causes our armpits to sweat.

Apocrine sweat glands are what links our hair follicles to some parts of our body. These glands produce fatty sweat that remains in the glands’ tubule walls.

When weather, hormones or certain food hits, these apocrine glands’ tubule walls will contract and release fatty sweat.

How Do I Stop Underarm Sweat?

Use antiperspirant

Antiperspirants temporarily reduce sweating by blocking your sweat ducts with aluminum-salts. Simply apply them on dry skin after showering at night.

Shave your armpits

Hair can hold moisture which will worsen armpit sweat. While most men shave to avoid looking like Chewbacca, many men shave for hygiene reasons.

With lesser hair, you can reduce armpit sweat buildup.

You can choose to shave them off entirely, or trim them. We recommend trimming yours with an electric trimmer to avoid mishaps.

Stay away from food that causes sweat

They say “food is the way to a man’s heart”, and in this case... your armpits.

Food like garlic, onion, spicy dishes and high fat content ingredients will force your body to detox through the release of urine and sweat.

Opting for cleaner food with lower fiber will drastically improve your sweaty situation.

Staying hydrated

Keeping your body cool by drinking loads of water (doctors recommend at least 2L a day) or consuming foods that have higher contents of water can help to reduce sweating.

Eliminating caffeinated beverages

While it may be a staple in our day to day lives, caffeine stimulates our nervous system, causing us to sweat. We know… it's not easy to resist our coffee addiction but minimising our consumption of it will definitely help with reducing sweat.

Although, underarm sweating occurs in some people, it might also be a signal of hyperhidrosis disorder. So, if you sweat overly excessively everywhere, do make a trip to your doctor for a check.
